I bought a wireless network adapter from Best Buy last night; plugged it into my desktop and everything works fine--I am able to connect to the internet with no problem. I cannot seem to get our laptop to access the internet, though. It recognizes that our network is there, when I check the list of available networks, but when I ask it to connect, it will say "retrieving information" (or something like that--I'm doing this from memory). I have entered the correct keys, there is nothing that is password protected, so I'm a bit lost.
I had one suggestion of hooking the laptop to an ethernet cable into our router to see if I can get internet access THAT way, but I will have to try that when I get home.
I have Windows Vista on my desktop and Windows XP on my laptop, if that makes a difference.
In the meantime, has this happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it?
