How do I get my Emo Hair to not get all tangled when I tease it?

I tease my hair to make it big at the top and small at the bottom. But when I tease it, it gets all tangled and matted. I understand that's what teasing does, but the matted part is supposed to be under the soft part.

How did these girls get their hair to do this? I KNOW they HAVE to have teased in order to make it that big. Heres some pictures.

How do they get their hair to not get tangled and matted at the top? Is it the way they cut it?

HELP ME!!!




Oh, and also, how do i get it REALLY thin at the bottom...like this picture...

make sure u lift up the strands of hair and tease UNDER them...not on top too!!! use more hair spray than teasing your hair...it wont damage ur hair as much! good luck..
 
You usally hold up the hair you want teased then teas e the back fo that hair and just kinda lay the soft over it.

Thin at the bottom you just have your hair thinned all over but you tease the top making it appear bigger then the thin hair just falls down
