...is in jail now for animal cruelty? he recently decided not to give it back to me when he promised me in taped visitations and jail calls to make arrangements to do so with his mom and family friend who has the dog. I payed all the bills for my bf and the dog the rent water and dog food and medical bills etc Do I have any luck? he also owes me close to $20,000 in bills he never payed for because he is now serving time. We were supposede to be together after he gets out of jail and he promised to pay me back for everything but now has taken me off list and wont call me. What are me options? I do have a lot of proof of bills, phone calls etc?

Who currently has possession of the dog?
If he was arrested and charged & serving time for animal cruelty, you do know that he can never own an animal again - ever! And if you get back together with him, I'm sure that the courts would advise you to release the dog, or get rid of your bf.

If it were me, I'd never get back with someone who was convicted on animal cruelty. But, to each their own.

What? This question is almost incomprehensible. But if you're saying your moron bf is in jail for animal cruelty, and you were planning on retrieving your dog back AND getting back with this piece of crap, thereby exposing your dog to an animal abuser...oh hell, whatever. If you don't see what's wrong with that, it's beyond hope.

If you ever develop a brain stem, please stop worrying about money long enough to make sure your pet is safe. That means not living with an animal abuser.

Why on earth were you with this jerk? They can't do anything based on him saying he was going to give it to you or going to pay you back. The only way you're going to get that dog is if you find some way to take it to court and show them how he's in jail for animal cruelty and all. If he says it's not his dog, it's the friend's, then you're going to have to prove that the dog isn't in a safe environment. For the money, you shouldn't have paid them. You should've wrote him or his mom a check as a "loan" and let them pay them. That's the only way you would've gotten the money back.
