How do I get my Deviantart gallery well known without seeming like I'm showing...

...off or fishing for compliments? I'm in a bit of a situation, because I REALLY want people to see my DA Gallery, and I reallyyy want to Sell some of my work, but whenever I post a link somewhere or show it to someone I feel like I am either showing off or fishing for compliments...and I'm NOT. I'm just trying to get a little bit more...out there.
Do you have any advice?

if you'd like to get more attention, post a thread on the forums or write on other peoples' threads. your name is a link anyway, so there's no need to write 'visit my gallery!' because people probably will just because you wrote on their thread.
also, do watch and favourite other people. 90% of people will watch you back, and they might just find something they love in your gallery.
