How do I get my Betta to eat?

the "feed all he will eat in three or 5 minutes" is a crap rule. just give him 3 flakes a day, some bettas wont eat pellets.
 
I feed him in the morning with 3 pellets and he usually doesn't eat them, he just lets them fall to the bottom. This morning I fed him and he put one in his mouth and spit it out. Any help?
 
Do you feed him other times during the day? If he eats at other times, he is just not hungry. If he is not eating at all, there could be something wrong, or the pellets are too large for him. Oh and make sure to remove all the uneaten food, so your water quality doesn't get messed up. If you need anymore help feel free to add more information; I will check back. Cheers Max
 
its better to feed them flake food and freeze dried blood worms. feed once a day what he will eat in three minutes and remove uneaten food. he will love the worms and be much healthier. does it have a heater set at 80? he is a tropical fish a nd needs a heater , he will act more normal in the proper environment, minimum 5 gallons, heated tank with filter
