My 7 wk old pit bull mix puppy has been living with me and my boyfriend for 3wks now. He is a very happy and well taken care of puppy, but when he doesn't get his way, he whines. I don't know how to make him stop and it is so high pitched and annoying! Usually I just ignore him to try to teach him that he won't get his way by doing this. It works sometimes, but other times, it doesn't. It also hasn't made him do it any less. It's not like he doesn't get plenty of excersize because he goes outside a lot. He doesn't need any food or water because I keep his bowl filled. Do you know how I can get my puppy to stop whining or at least whine as little as possible?
Thanks in advance.
I have had my puppy since he was 4wks old because his brothers and sisters and mother got sick and I didn't want him to be sick. So I had no choice. He has been to the vet already (on his 6 week birthday) and his next visit is due on the 26th for his 8 week birthday. This is when he will get some of his shots. I have a puppy plan with Banfield that I pay a monthly fee for so everything is covered. He has been with me for 3 weeks now and has adjusted fine, I think. Like I said, he just whines when he doesn't get his way. Like when it's 2am and he whines at the door to go out, but when I let him out, all he days is play around. Please don't think he's not getting everything he needs, because he is. I also have a full grown cat and they play together as well so he does get attention.
At night, he now sleeps in a crate beside the bed with the door shut as a result from me waking up with poop in front of my door. It has been working fine and he is learning to control his potty behaviour.
I just need to know what to do when he whines, that's all. The vet told me when I took him for the first time that he is fine and I already have a "step up" on caring for him.
