How do i get my 7d footage onto final cut?

The files that come out of the camera are MOV files I think in final cut they are h.264 files. How do I get my files onto final cut for smooth editing. Ive heard things like pro res 422 I dont know what that means so anyone please help.

A step by step guide would be great!!
