How do I get into Equity Research Sales?

I have been in higher end corporate sales for a small industrial bank and then a Fortune 500 Technology company. I have done well at sales but I want a position where sales meets financial services. After doing my due diligence, I found Equity Research Sales as a perfect fit. I have an EXTREME love for the markets and I am looking for anyone with good ideas on how to parlay my sales experience to land an Equity Research Sales position.
