How do I get information about gay and lesbian organizations at my university?

I live in a college town and soon to head to college myself, I wanted to check out my college's LGBT organizations and meetings. I KNOW my college has a gay and lesbian orginization but how do i find out info about it and where they might meet and such?

do you think it'd be okay for me to get involved with the organization even if i don't attend the college but am still a member of the local community?
 
Most of these gay student groups are part of a national group. So you could get some information from the national website. There you should be able to find out about weather or not you need to be a student to be a member. There plenty of gay youth related organizations that you could join. You should look into volunteering at a gay charity. Maybe a group that dose outreach, condom distribution,STD prevention, etc. I volunteer in a food pantry for people with HIV . It is a great place to meet other volunteers and is a great tool for screening potential dates. You may even find a Yahoo group for gay teens or students in your town.
