How do I get I high score in the Mindjolt game Word Drop?

I can only get a score of 59000ish. I know if I got better/longer words it would be higher by a few thousand but my friend has a high score of 276000! There must be something I'm not aware of.
Oh dear Moussa Balla are you serious?? You're never to old to play games! And anyway these kinda mind numbing games are great for passing time on my lunch break! lol
 
Actually, your score will jump phenomenally if you get longer words. The longest word I've gotten is 9 letters long and it was worth 180,000 points or something like that. Longer words, really are the key.
