It varies greatly from school to school, typically a private university will give you more money than a public one if you're accepted. I suggest possibly going to community college for a year or two, and scheduling an appointment with the financial aid office there. Bring a recent copy of your parent's taxes with you, preferably from this year. They may also require you fill out the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid), the CSS (close to the FAFSA), or other paperwork related to that specific school. Community college is a great way to get basic credits out of the way and to save money for an education, just do your research to make sure it's a school that has classes you're interested in taking/a degree you wish to pursue.
