How do I get Adobe Flash Player?

I've been trying to get Adobe flash player on my computer and I'm having trouble. I've tried installing for free from what i've found on the computer and it kept telling me there was something missing to install.
I've also tried buying and the installation still wouldn't follow through. What could be the be the problem?
