I started experiencing the "Open Tray Error" recently, and my warranty was over with, so I read up online about some fixes.
I opened up my 360, cleaned and re-aligned the laser on the philips drive. Once I was satisfied, I closed everything back up and booted up the xbox.
To my dismay, I found the green power light on the console was flashing green and the drive would not open or close. Some more research indicated that I needed to "flash" the drive. The only decent tutorial I could find, involved hooking the drive to my PC, putting firmware discs in, and a slew of messy hardware screwing.
Is there any easier way to fix this problem? I cant test to see if my original fix worked even. Xbox obviously doesnt give out manufacturer firmware discs for drives on the inside when they dont want you to open them. I wouldnt have tried to fix my xbox if I knew this was going to happen. Any help is appreciated,
