i have a black maltese and he sleeps in my room sometimes, and every time when i'm about to sleep he whines at the door. he's the oldest and my other 2 dogs don't whine at all and they sleep in my room just fine. how do i fix the whining?

you could try leaving the door open for a night and seeing what he does when you don't have to open the door for him maybe you'll find out what it is he wants

Is this all the time? If so, he doesn't like it in your room - have a place other than your room that can be his bed, either a crate, blanket, bed, large pillow - something that is comfortable for him, but not in the way of folks walking and not in your room.

Some dogs just don't like to be "trapped" in a room, even a large one.

You know, I really don't think that you should use the word fix in this. I know you don't mean to but still, it's a living organism and I feel that you should be a little more sensitive. But you really should just leave your door open for the night, well at least a little bit. Dogs don't like to be in a room for too long. They don't like to be trapped. Just open your door wide enough for the dog to get outside every night.

when i first got my dog and i would put her in her play pen all she would do is whine so i just ignored it and she stopped after awhile (this was after i made sure she had food, water and toys to play with and i made sure she didnt have to go outside) just try ignoring it and the dog will get the hint
