I've had a 2001 Plymouth Neon for about 3 years now. Everything works okay-except my cigarette lighter/power adapter. I seem to have no fuse for it in my fuse box, and no manuals give me any insight on how to fix this problem.

did you try replacing the pull out lighter element, you can get them at auto stores, also did you try other gadgets? or put a meter across just to make sure its power that's missing , if it is no power a blown fuse seems possible, maybe a look in the manual will show the circuit diagram.

first thing i would do is search on the internet and see if you could find a pdf file for your manual then unbolt the dash and pull it off instead of prying out your lighter thing and check the plug in the back

Check your fuses again. Most the time a cigarette lighter will be on a fuse with other things not by itself. Might be with a dome light or courtesy lights as an example. Check this out I found it on yahoo answers. This should help locate it.

Check all the fuses anyway, regardless of what they're labeled as. It could have a name that isn't obvious.

Also, on some cars, you can pry the cigarette lighter out carefully with a knife. If you can pull the socket out of the dash, you can look to make sure that the wires are connected right in back. The lighter on our Mazda was broken, and all I had to do was push the wire back onto the lug on the back of it.

One more thing, not to insult your intelligence, but is the key on when you try to use the lighter?
