How do I fix my car stereo that cuts off at high volume?

My car stereo was installed last year, and rats had eaten out all the wire. The guy who replaced it said my stereo gave out enough power and bypassed the amplifiers for each speaker, running them directly to the stereo. Now when I turn up my car more that a moderate volume, my entire stereo shuts off and restarts and I need to turn it down really quick to stop it from happening again.

How do I fix this? How much will it cost?
 
dumb ass it is the amp in you carstereo is going out it over heats which makes it reset buy a new stereo.
