How do I fix html code to NOT show small boxes after the link and/or picture?

Whenever i use a html code for a text link and/or a picture link, a small empty box (kind of like a wingding or webding, whatever they're called) comes up after the text or picture.

How do i get that to NOT happen? i'm using the codes in blogger if that helps any.
