How do I fix Dodge Ram Truck Air Conditioning?

My friend has a 1998 Dodge Ram truck, unsure of the #, but it is a 2 door model, and the Air Conditioning hasn't functioned in some time.
If you turn it on on a flat street, you can feel air coming out,but once you get on an incline, you can hear something moving and rattling. And you can hear the air in there, but it's not coming through the vents. She disagrees, but I don't think the air cools either. If anyone has had similar problems, and if anyone has a DIY fix or can address the symptoms, it would be appreciated. Do not tell me to take it to a mechanic. Thanks.

if you arent getting air then you have a problem with the blower fan. if it is not cooling then you could have a leak in your system or the A/C compressor could be bad.

if you wish to fix it yourself i would suggest ATLEAST purchasing a book at a parts store for AC repairs (i saw one at autozone).

what is required to fix it.
if you open your system you are going to need ATLEAST a vaccuum pump of some sort and new freon (however its spelled), as well as special hoses to hook to your freon system.

its fairly easy to rebuild an AC system but its not worth it to buy the tools to do just do it once. you would probably do it cheaper at a shop (but you said you didnt want to take it to a mechanic).

sooo here is my fix... i would suggest rolling down the windows and enjoying that fresh breeze.
