How do I edit videos with windows media player?

hi, :)..
I have a youtube account and I edited my video with windows movie maker. When I tried uploading it wouldnt let me.
So then I tried editing with windows media player
didnt work.
all i want to do is make the video black and white.
:(.
So is there a video editing program that is free?
PLEASE HELP.

I'm pretty sure you can't edit with windows media player; movie maker is your best bet.
Why can't you upload it? Try exporting to a different format--I'm sure youtube recommends certain formats, although I'm not sure what is best. I believe it's all re-encoded, anyway, to make it smaller, once you upload it.
