How do I 'discover a new recipe' in Sims 3 MOBILE?

I know how to buy recipes and cook just fine, but one of my goals is to 'discover a new recipe', which I thought meant BUY and cook a new recipe.

NOPE. That's not doing it. Any suggestions? Remember, I'm using the MOBILE version, so a lot of the PC version answers do not help.
