How do I disable chat? Apparently Yahoo has decided to force some features on us. Yahoo mail is getting worse and worse. I do not want anything to do with chat. Also, the connections related box at the top.... another "force". Time to go elsewhere? Maybe that is the solution New features? Why not provide an off switch? Force us to take it? No thanks! I want ALL folders with unread messages to display. Otherwise what good are filters? Anyway, this was about chat. Simply put it sucks. It is in poor taste and make Yahoo look like a Google wannabe!
 
You cant totally remove it but you can stop it from loading - once you login to mail in the chat module select "sign out of chat" in the dropdown that says "available". Now the next time you login to mail it will not automatically sign you in.
