I have recently began helping out on the local angling boats operating out of my town, and trying to learn all about the high seas. But everytime i ask somebody the correct way to determine the length of docking lines in tidal waters, the only answer i get are things like "it takes practice" or "you just know".
The angling boats im on are all 18 metres in lenght and tend to go all over the place, with tidal ranges such as 2 metre drops from high tide to low tide, all the way to 7 metre drops.
Could somebody please tell me the correct way to determine the length of docking lines in tidal waters?
Thank you so much!
