How do I deal with this student who has these weird ideas?

I'm a Nun at a school and there's this room that's dedicated to this student named Elizabeth. Elizabeth died of leukemia about 12 years ago.

A sweet girl that I teach named Suzie wrote a poem about Elizabeth and published it in the school newspaper.

Suzie didn't know Elizabeth but was deeply touched by her story.

I obviously have a problem with this as I don't think its right for students to be touched so deeply by people that they don't know.

I also obviously assumed that Suzie wrote the poem because she has a dead father and I interrogated her about this!

Suzie came up to me last week and asked if she could get the poem put in Caliography and in the room where Elizabeth's plaque is.

I thought this was really WEIRD and I told Suzie this.

But I waited ONE WHOLE WEEK to approach Suzie about this.

When I approached Suzie, I grilled her because I wanted to help her.

But Suzie felt ashamed and didn't want to open up to me.

She said she got the "caliography idea" from Elizabeth's sister wanting to do it in caliography for her.

I then accused Suzie of "invading the privacy" of Elizabeth's family.

Suzie had gone to visit Elizabeth's mom and her mom offered her tea and told her she could come by whenever she was there.

Anyway, now Suzie always walks around with her head down.

She says she feels ashamed about her poem and is sorry she ever wrote it.

Is there ANYTHING I could have done differently?

you shouldn't discourage a students creativity. If there is a room named in honor of this girl who passed away from Leukemia students are going to want to know more, and might want to pay their respects to the persons family. Poetry is a good way to do this for some. Why is it any of your Business if Suzie reaches out to this family because she cares?
