How do I create a folder for photos that I place in an external hard drive?

I moved about 200 photos into an external hard drive. I have a Mac OS10.4 . I want to create a folder on the external drive to put all the photos in. How do I do that and how can I put all the photos into it at one time? Not individually which will take too long to do. Thanks for any help.
