when making soup with raw meat whether it be chicken, pork or beef, i know many many people boil the raw meat for a few minutes, then throw out that water and rinse the meat. Then they boil the meat again, this time with all the vegetables and what not. They say it is best to discard the water from the first boil as it is essentially "blood water" How do you guys cook meat for soup?

i just put the meat into the water with the seasonings and boil it, before i add the vegies i skim the surface of the water and remove the "meat scum" that collects on the top. this is usually for the beef or pork soup, for chicken i just throw it into the pot and add the vegies after is has cooked awhile. i never heard of blood water soup..lol. i don't think that there is much blood is in the water that you have to throw it out. you can also sear the meat before putting it into the water. i do this when i make beef soup.
