How do I cook black pudding?

I have eaten black pudding a few times and I really liked it. I decided to make it but it cooks weird. When you first put it in the pan, it melts and turns to pudding, I know it's not done now because I've eaten it before and I remember it was pretty solid. If I keep it in the pan until it solidifies, it's burnt and crispy. I guess I just need to know when exactly is it done?
