how do i cook an apple?

ok normally when i go camping i put apple over the fire untill the peal turns black and eat them

well i am home and can't have an open fire here, so how can i get a similar affect (oven wise)

does anyone have like a good recipe?
or any idea how long i should cook it for?
ok i like never cook (and this question should show it) do apples burn or anything of that nature?
