How do I convince my mom to get myself a cellphone?

Currently, I have about $300 in my wallet.
I just turned 13.
My birthday passed about 2 weeks ago,
and my mom won't let me get a cellphone. (LG Xenon)

How can I persuade her to get me one?
I'm the kind/caring (not trying to boast) member in the family.
My parents always yell at my brothers (11 & 14), because they're quite the bother and troublesome.
My cousins have trouble with our elders according to appearances, because of their piercings and clothes.
I'm probably the nerd... but yea.
I really want a cellphone incase I get lost in a mall or maybe need a ride back home from my friend's house.
 
Answered it yourself, kinda.

Tell her you'll be able to use it in emergencies and when you need help with something, or stuck somewhere, and hope for the best. Good Luck :D
