How do I connect an aftermarket stereo to my car?

the 2000 ford taurus,s radio is in the trunk so youll have to buy the wire and dash kit. bout 80 bucks somewhere around there. now when you wire it up just follow the instuctions.
 
I have a 2000 ford focus zx3 and am trying to figure out how to connect the head unit to the car. I have connected the 12V, the ground, and the accessory(the accessory goes to the fuse box in my car). Is this correct? Also, I have to figure out where to hook up the Illumination and switch wires to. Any answers?
