How do i clear trouble codes for an 04 Honda Civic?

My buddy has a Honda and it has the "maintenance required" light and check engine light. he knows what the problem is with the check engine light but not the maint. req'. now i have a Camaro and i know to clear my code lights i have to put the key to power and press the gas 3 times and my lights turn off. how do you do that with the 04 Honda Civic? i don't have a reader so i cant clear them that way. Please let me know! Thanks
 
Take the negitive cable off the battery for 30 seconds. That will allow the computer to reboot and clear the codes. Put the cable back on and the light should stay off.
 
A scan tool may be the only way to clear any codes in the computer, most parts stores are more than happy to reset your system, however better have them check as too why the code was set.
