How do I change an image from RAW to an image with a format that my Mac Book can read?

I might get the D5000 and i want to take pictures in RAW because people say the image looks better. But since its in RAW, my Mac Book cant read it so i cant use it in Final Cut Express. So is there a way I can change from an image format from RAW to a format that my mac can read?
 
After you take the pic download it to your pc. Do all of your editing in RAW then click save as. Your pc should ask you how you want to save it, and it usually gives you the jpg option. Mine does. Click the save as button and it will convert it for you. Then after you are done editing and saving, burn all of your RAW images on a disk and delete them off your cpu because they are VERY LARGE files. If you don't delete them you will run out of hard drive space QUICK.
