How do I break the news to family that my wife and I want to/are moving 1,000 miles

away? My wife and I want to move out of the small town we live in and into the city, but far away. Any advice on how to handle this?
Reason for move: We like the city better, we would be closer to my wife's family, better weather
 
Yeah..............hi family we are moving 1,000 miles away, theres only one way to do it, straight to the point, they can visit cant they your not leaving the planet are you.
 
You should start out with the reason for the move. Is this
move preceding a new job with better pay? If placed in this
light then 1,000 miles is not that far away considering
modern technology. Families move all the time. Your
parents should be happy for your bright future. Promise to
to keep in touch and short visits on holidays.
 
Just do it. There is no easy answer here. If they love you, they will get over it. You have to do what is best for you and your wife and if that means moving, well, then thats what you have to do and the family will just have to understand. good luck.
