How do I back up contacts and photos saved to my blackberry and how do I wipe it clean?

You can use Blackberry Desktop Manager to backup all your phone numbers and messages. Once you get your new phone it is really simple to transfer it all back to your phone through that software. For the pictures and video just go to My Computer and find your blackberry device and copy and paste the files and folders into a location where you can remember them.
 
The tracker ball is not working right so my phone is being replaced. I want to back up saved photos and contacts so I don't have to reload all of them and I don't know how to back up what is on it.

Second I have to send the defective blackberry back so how do I wipe it clean if the tracker ball is not working? I want it wiped clean so nothing is on it when I return it. Ideas? Thanks.
