I just got a 2009 fit in blackberry pearl and I LOVE it! I just want to add 5-15 more horses(former 2002 civic ex owner so its a real adjustment). It's got plenty of zip, it just gets sluggish at highway speeds. I have to struggle to keep it above 60 mph comfortably. What can I do?
I know going over 60 is not recommended for mpg but I spend a good 55 percent of my driving time on the expressways and parkways where avg speed is 60-70 mph. Its hard to maintain the car around 60 easily, so I figured with more power it would be an easier drive and give me a boost if I should need it.

two more gerbils in addition to the three on running wheels under the hood should do the trick.

I can't help you with your question directly, but I thought I would chime in. I have a 2007 Honda Fit, and I am getting close to 40 mpg. I do it by not driving over 60, by coasting to stops when possible, and by eliminating jack rabbit driving. (I also occasionally coast down a long hill in neutral.) So, maybe adding more hp is not a great idea. Glad to hear you like the car, though. I really like mine.

5 to 15hp is the same as the amount of power a scooter makes, not enough to make a difference. The automatics are sluggish...!!

ALSO wait until your warranty is DONE before making any mods, unless you dont care about the warranty...

It`s an economy car, they will do fine at 60mph IN THE RIGHT LANE!

Are you in a hurry?

intake and exhaust systems, so the engine breathes easy. adds about 10-20hp, depending on what you get. (cold air intake, free-flow muffler, etc).
