How do I add a "add to contacts" shortcut?

Today my wife said that it would be a great idea to have an "add to contacts" shortcut on the homepage. I agreed and figured there's a way to do so. I can't figure it out, though.

I've tried AnyCut, but no dice. Anyone got anything?

long press any blank spot on your screen. select shortcut then you can choose direct dial or direct message.then select the person you would like to add as a short cut.if you choose the person short cut u have all the persons info with one touch. i like to use the person short cut cause it will give you the choice of calling, sms, email, facebook or twitter.hope that will help

I tried it in Bettercut. Kept getting "application not installed" on all the contact activities. But it looks like there are add contact activities. I get the impression bettercut hasn't kept up with Android's development. I had uninstalled it a long time ago.

i have aways had to use it with openhome, pandahome ahome or another home app.i could never use it just with the stock android home.i had G1,N1 and now EVO. ive tried using it with out on all but alway had to use a different home app.just dont know about a rooted phone tho.

I don't think you all understand what I'm asking...

She doesn't want to add one of her current contacts to her homescreen, she can do that already, but she wants to add a shortcut that takes here directly to the "add a contact" form... So she can type in the number, name, email, etc immediately. It's not hard to just go to contacts and click "add a contact" but isn't that what Android is about? Just making life easier?

Aright, so I was just messing around with this and I think I got a way for you to do it. I'm doing this on a G1 running CM5.0.8, and I'm certainty no developer, so I really have no idea if this will work for everyone

I used Better Cut then hit "New Shortcut" and scrolled down to "Make Your Own".

For Action, I entered:
android.intent.action.INSERT

For Data:
content://com.android.contacts/contacts

I left the Type blank. Then you can rename it whatever you want.

Hopefully this will work.
