How did your parents discipline you as a kid?

Did they have any little tricks (that didn't involve a belt or anything)?

My parents/family would always use hot sauce. If I cursed, I'd get a little spoon of hot sauce. That sort of thing. I didn't curse too often xD Strange how I like spicy food now, though.

What about you?

Good old fashion manual labor. I remember having to go out in the yard and pick weeds in the middle of summer for back talking. My brother had to chop wood for 4 hours straight once after he got caught cheating on a test he didn't study for.

My parents owned 1,200 acres. 35 of them we kept mowed. If you acted up, you mowed. For hours. And hours.

They also spanked when we were too young to work.

well my Godmother and Godfather are very strict because they raise 4 kids. (2 , 4, 12, 15). so we get soap in our mouth, spanked (for the 2 and 4 year old one swat). for (12 and me im 15 we get the brush or belt). the 2, 4, and 12 year old gets corner time. and im 15 so sometimes i have to write a essay. but it works

No, not really any tricks or anything. Just the usual take away toys/spanking when I was little and grounding as a teen. Though my mom had this ability, I don't think it can be learned, to make you feel uncomfortable when she's mad, even if you truly feel you didn't do anything wrong. She'd just make the whole room very uncomfortable so you'd end up apologizing anyway. There are some things I never ever did again because of that ability of hers.

Soap in the mouth and a spanking. I had a babysitter that used a stick and swatted me in the butt with it or on the hands. These are things that Supernanny would strong oppose and parents would nowadays get arrested for. This generation needs to stop being so dang sensitive!
