How did the invention of the bicycle affect society [when it was originally invented]?

in a positive sense: it supplied a fast and easy way of transportation that affected the way people went about their lives and their leisure time. it created more jobs for people. Repair shops, bike shops, accessories, helmets. And on the note of helmets, safety regulations also became more strong. people created sports out of them, also created a more social group of people among these bikers. increase the economy and helped increase supply and demand
in a negative sense: people got hurt, bikes were banned, people stole bikes which impacted the crime rate and what not. not many negatives..
good luck
