How did the catholic church impact the middle age society, values, and culture?

Like a teenager who rebels against his/her parents, many Catholics seem to rebel against the church during their late teens ad twenties. The impact of settling down and having a family and realizing the world doesn't revolve around you alone leads you back to the church and to God. Catholics get a bad rap because of the financial success of the church and also because of a few bad apple priests. There are far more good Catholics than the media lets you know about. But back to the question....the morals, values and culture that we return to in middle age is that which was taught us by our parents as children....we want these values passed on to our own children.

Collecting money for chuch by selling real estates from heaven is only one example how church effected on society in middle-ages.
