Had audio installer add an amp kit, (power wire, line converter, etc) and hook up my JL 500 amp to a sub, running off of factory navi stereo. Everything worked fine until I took the key out of ignition. When I took the key out, amp started pounding woofer, put the key back in ignition and everything worked fine. Drove back to stereo shop and installer went straight to line converter and I believe he cut a wire. He messed around for a minute and smoke started to come from amp. He was messing with wires with power still connected. I want to know if he short cycled the amp or just shorted amp. I proceeded to ask him what happened. He said that he didn't know, thinks it was signal sensing on amp that did it. I asked him what he was going to do to solve the problem, and he said he could give me a good deal on a new amp.(Go figure) So what do you think happened to the amp and was it installers fault, and what actions should be taken from my side?
