How did Brad Pitt succeed in not tarnishing his good image considering he cheated on...

...America's sweetheart? I'm not here to judge his actual act but just wondering how he succeeded not experiencing no negative press or slander considering Jen was popular at the time on Friends and liked by all, he goes away to shoot a film, cheats with Angie and just dumps Jen like yesterday's newspaper but suffers NOTHING for it. Is it because guys can get away with it in Hollywood? (and to those who think he didn't cheat Angie herself said they were sleeping while Jen was unaware of it, before Brad broke it off with her).
 
Brad's really pretty, and we have double standards when it comes to a man cheating on a woman, as opposed to a woman cheating on a man. He got lucky.
