How deep should i make these boxes?

I have 2 8 inch punch subs that require 4.25" of depth i can go just about
4 - 4.5, but if i go any more it will start to look bad.

When it says it requires 4.25. Does this mean i want to go more or is it just fine a 4.25?
I mean it will look bad in my car.
 
The 4.25 more than likely the depth of the sub itself. The sub box should be larger than that. The larger the box the more air available to move around, hence it will sound better. Bigger is better but if you can't go very large I would at least try for 4.5-4.75" depth
 
It requires meaning if the box is 4 it won't fit. I don't get what you mean you say it looks bad? this will be inside of box, no one will see it. You need to make the box deeper than 4.25.
