The 9 members of the hallowed Supreme Court make up my favorite branch of government. They are wise, do not have to report to voters (thus protecting them from the somewhat irrational masses) and only rule on the most important of cases. Yet I see many people who think that its members are not wise. This upsets me.
Unlike the members of the other two branches, the Supreme Court Justices are free to make important decisions without worrying about public opinion. Think about Brown V. Board of Education. It is a good thing we had the Supreme Court, or else that would not have happened. In addition, there members serve for life, allowing them to obtain more and more experience. But it is the first reason for which I admire them the most.
How could anyone hate the members of the Supreme Court. They deserve gold epaults on their shoulders!
Of course, I am not saying that elected officials and democracy are bad. I am just saying that it is good that not all officials report to the voters. Or else the tyranny of the majority would set in much faster. So far, no party has held office long enough to completely fill the court with yesmen, and even so, people appointed to the court often then abandon party ties and rule soley from their heart.
I am not making an indirect reference to Sotomayor or ANY individual justice. I am talking about the people who criticize the whole court in general.
