How comes 'Never let me go' release has been pushed back until January?

It was due in September (last time I checked in June).

Now, I checked IMBD (and even wikipedia) and it seems the UK is the last to get this film! US gets in in September and the UK on January 14th (I think the 14th).

I was looking forward to this film and assumed it was an english based movie..with Carey Mulligan and Keria Knightly. Why are we always last :(

I think the same thing happened with Slumdog Millionaire, even though it had a British director and a British lead. I think the only reason it has been 'delayed' is because of the Oscars. The nearer a good film is released to the Oscars, the more likely it is to create buzz and get an Oscar.

But, I don't know the actual reason. I also find it weird that films which look like they are British made, like Never Let me Go (I think all three of ther main actors are british) are the last place to be premiered and the US get them first, like always. It's actually really unfair, thinking about it!

It's premiering at the London Film Festival in October, if that counts? The general public will have to wait until Jan though, more's the pity. Well, the UK public anyway :(

The reviews for 'NLMG' have been pretty good-yet mixed. Some saying one of the best films with a great emotional value-others saying it could have been better having the film had a different director.

Also, apparently the release date for the UK has been brought forward but I can't find the 'new' release date anywhere!?
