How come you can skip boot camp after being in the Marines?

This confuses me. If you joined the Marines, you'd get to skip the other Services' Boot Camp if you decided to enlist in them.

But then...if you're going from the Marines to the Navy, for instance, how you know seamanship?

Where would you learn firefighting and whatever else they teach in the Navy Boot that they don't teach in the Corps?

Or is it like going into the Army, where they'll give you a 4-week "Warrior Training Course" to get you up to speed?

yes If a prior service marine decides to enlist in say the army they do not have to go through basic training or WTC because the marines boot camp is more rigorous then any other branch both physically and tactically. therefore they dont need any remedial training. they do go through AIT with the rest of everyone else though.

You are correct, you would not have to attend another service's BMT once you h ave been to one. I know that in the Air Force, people coming from other services would go to like a 2 weeks integration course which would teach them all about Air Force customs and other qualities of Airmanship.
