did everything other than world destruction or a vaccine happen?

Maybe people are finally realizing that they were overreacting in the beginning. Most cases of swine flu in the US have been minor.

Well, apart from a steady rise in the number of infections there probably hasn't been enough dramatic news to knock talking dogs or UFO sightings off the top of the news bulletins.

The first doses of the vaccine are supposed to be available next month - but they'll be reserved for health workers, government officials, law enforcement & the military. The public will probably start to see them in 2 to 3 months.

Also in 2 to 3 months we'll have a better idea about where this pandemic is going because it'll have gone through the Southern hemispheres flu season by then.

:)

our major media has decided it's not news worthy. but if you crawl out of the black hole you apparently live in and get some news online, you will find that pandemic has indeed been declared. people are still getting sick, and dying and in ever increasing numbers. It just isn't happening in the US so the media isn't bothering with it.

Well actually you do hear it pretty much everyday, like in the news they say "Swine Flu Outbreak" talking so much on closing down schools temporarily, and medicines, and who died and whatnot. Recently I heard a classmate of mine has the swine flu, which is so unfortunate. Yesterday, I believe Mayor Bloomberg said he would give out vaccines to school nurses to give to the kids, which I think they should have done that earlier...but overall news reporters talk about it everyday- you need to watch news more often probably.
