How come the NHS contacted me so quickly after my blood test?

I had my blood test on the 15th of this month. The hospital said the doctor will get the results in two weeks. The next day I got a letter saying I have an appointment in the hospital. I thought you need a referal to see a doctor!! Can things go THAT quickly? Or was it just a coincidence? Did the doctor write to them BEFORE my blood test? They told me I have anemia so I'm a bit worried.

I haven't got an appointment, but the hospital called me to arrange an appointment with them which is in two months time but it just baffled me they contacted me the next day when they said the results would take two weeks. I know the doctor has to write a referal to the hospital before the hospital would even ask me to come in.
I know I should ask the doctor, but I won't see her till another week.

the blood tests are to back up your doctors preliminary diagnosis. the appointment call was just a coincidence. if it was something serious you wouldn't be waitng 2 months. no worrys

If you're really that anemic, then yes they will call you right away. because you may need to be given some blood. And they want to find out why your anemic. Lots of things cause anemia but when your very anemic and your hemoglobin and hematocrit in your blood drop very low they worry that you might have cancer, or be bleeding somewhere in your body that you're not aware of. Don't worry it's probably nothing but, i would definatly get back in touch with the doc and get to that appointment and get checked out. Good Luck!
