I just got it today and there are two.I bought gold fish food (The round ones in a ball) and they consume and then spit it out and keep attempting to eat it.I'm scared they will get sick and die, because I just got them.I don't want to be a bad owner. They are not gold fish they look a bit different, the lady said they were a type that starts with P but they are orange everywhere except on there bottom half. The have two tails tht split and go into four. They are small with a normal body.I have to keep them for at least two months so then I can get a cat......They don't have any humps on their heads.

It may be pieces are too big, transition to new environment, various other things. Major problem #1 here is not knowing what kind of fish you have. Please don't think I am trying to be mean- I am trying to help you out here because I learned the hard way. You need to find out for sure what type of fish you have. If possible, go back to the store and find out for sure. That is the first step to take in being a good owner. You may even have the wrong food- that could be why they aren't eating correctly. Anyway, the needs of all fish aren't the same (different foods, different tank sizes needed, different water quality- such as ph, temperatures) so that is where you need to start! You may find out that you have the wrong food. Hope this helps you and good luck!

maybe in transition stage, like they have their new environment so they tend to adopt gradually the place .. they're body is trying to adopt the changes

when u buy a new fish from store they usually dont eat for 2 to 3 days.they first try to adapt themselves to the place . then they come and eat it dont worry
