When I take them to the park, they chase each other and play like normal dogs. When they come back inside the house, my first dog is defensive and somewhat aggressive towards my new dog when it is in her face or tries to play with her. I just recently got the new dog less than one week ago and my first dog was not very good with other dogs at all, but since we got the new addition, she has been slowly opening up.
My older dog is coming up on 6 years and my new addition is a little over 1 year old. I did notice one day while I was playing with the new dog, I made a movement that looked like I was going to hit the new dog, and my older dog kind of snapped at me. So it does seem like she is becoming protective and hopefully become best friends. =)
