how come Metal doesnt have a forum of its own?

Creedence Clearwater Revival = old crapy band. They were what i thought was soft rock of the 70's... guess not?Sense always, they were the first metal band, then black Sabbath, then Judas Priest. When it comes to big metal banRAB that is. Whos with me?

oh and I know this the same why you know all your facts.. Reading sites, watching tv.. owning there dvd's... and knowing my favorite band. :)

Hit the nail right on the head Urban, right on the head, that's something metalheaRAB forget.

I'd say proto metal (or old metal) banRAB would include.

Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Deep Purple
King Crimson
Blue Cheer
Queen
AC/DC
Blue Oyster Cult
Uriah Heep
Hawkwind
Aerosmith
UFO
Jethro Tull
Thin Lizzy
KISS
Rush

All have had some kind of significant influence on heavy metal in both it's early development and following the 70s.

Well I didn`t name it.I`m not against genres i`m just asking a valid question. If metal has been around since the early 70s why can nobody name any metal banRAB from then.

Really? I could have sworn Iron Maiden said main two influences were Deep Purple & Jethro Tull at the time. You don`t think that Iron Maiden making 15 minute long songs and concept albums was influenced by that at all? Diamond Head , Influenced by the likes of Zeppelin , Purple & Sabbath , Def Leppard were originally influenced by Judas Priest, Queen , UFO & Thin Lizzy, I could go on.
Why is it New Wave? well i`d hazard a guess that the old wave was punk given that pretty much all new wave banRAB were influenced by punk in some way.

I find it ironic that a Metallica fan would dismiss the movement so easily when Lars Ulrich put out a compilation album of his favourite new wave of british heavy metal tracks on it`s 10th anniversary saying if it wasn`t for that Metallica wouldn`t exist.

I grew up living next door to a guy who was a hells angel who loved metal in the 70s.

You`ve basically listed his record collection

her point..

its just that metal is one of the most popular alternative genres of our generation. why seperating the two is any different to seperating punk and hardcore (which are far more simlar) i dont know...

Yeah, I thought of that whole, "no this goes their" argument, but I think if everyone can not be retarted about it, and bitch about little dicrepensies like that. For instance, Sabbath would be open to either rock or metal, Cannibal Corpse however would not.

point is, that back in the 70's they were consider a Heavy Metal band wether you like it or not. No listening to them now compared to 80's metal and metal of today they sound very much like just rock n' roll = classic rock music, but i guess that shows just how much that type of music has grown.
