How come Long John Silvers added "inch thick batter" to their fish years ago?

I use to go years ago until they made me sick with all the fish batter.
The batter is way too thick. It drowns out the flavor of shrimp and fish.
 
They wanted to make the fish (and other seafood) look bigger. They failed to realize that we would catch on. Even Captain Ds throws them in that thick batter. And also, they throw in extra batter into the styrofoam container like it's really going to make the meal look bigger. What am I going to do with a bunch of little pieces of batter? Their fish is just a heart attack waiting to happen.
 
Same problem here. I wont eat there again as it made me sick because of the greasy overthick batter. Sure it fils you up quicker only to let your body functions get rid of it just as quick. Everything there taste the same to me. Sucks
